Weekend Was Lower-Key Than I’d Planned or Wanted

Welp, sometimes life just doesn’t go the way you want.

The plan for this weekend had been to relax, kick back, play some video games, maybe do a live stream or two, and even possibly wander out into the world to run some basic errands. And, to be fair, some of those things got done.

But then I came downstairs wrong on my foot, and… ow.

To start, I’m mostly fine. What happened was, I felt a SHARP lance of pain shoot through my left Achilles heel as I came down on that foot, causing me to immediately pull said foot off the ground and hop around on my right leg for a step or two. When I brought it down, it was mostly manageable, but there was a shadow twinge of the pain I’d felt a few seconds before, and it was not something I wanted to relive, at all.

I was able to walk on it more or less normally, but I’d feel the pain again (though not as sharply) whenever I got up from a sitting or lying down position, so I spent much of the week wondering if I was going to need any surgery, or if I’d need a cane to get around safely. Fortunately, I was able to talk to a doctor online, who told me it was likely nothing serious, as there was no swelling, I was able to put weight on it regularly, and I could even rise up on my toes without a problem. He suggested a couple of remedies in case there was more pain (cold packs and Aleve, basically), and said to contact a physician personally if it’s still an issue in a week or two.

So, that’s good.

But let me tell you: there is nothing quite like a sudden, sharp, surge of pain when you’re doing something you otherwise hardly ever think about to remind you of just how fragile our bodies can be. It completely threw off my content creation and errand-running plans for the weekend (though I did relax–kinda had to–and play some video games, because priorities).

I’m back at work and didn’t have any issues this morning. Hopefully that’ll be the worst of it for some time. I wish everyone a happy, healthy day, free of sudden bodily pain like that which I experienced on Friday.

I mention my injury VERY briefly during this livestream, at the tail end. Enjoy!
